Geltor is looking for a PROJECT MANAGER to join our expanding Commercial organization in Emeryville, CA. This key role offers a self-motivated Project Manager the opportunity to work collaboratively across organizational teams, technical and commercial, to bring newly designed products from conception to commercial delivery. Reporting to our Director of Product Innovation Programs and Partnerships, the person in this role will be trusted to manage the introduction of new products while leading project communications and providing valuable insight into anticipated challenges and proposed resolutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project management of strategic R&D and operations projects, monitoring performance against project targets and timelines. Work with R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and Business Development teams to develop and maintain detailed project plans, with clearly defined timelines, deliverables, resources, and budget.
  • Provide project coordination, identifying the need for cross-functional alignment and ensuring the involvement of appropriate stakeholders and correct level of decision makers. This will include the participation in technical meetings, the development of agendas, creation of meeting minutes, tracking action items, and scheduling follow-up meetings.
  • Lead all communications with project teams; serve as key source of knowledge on the status, strategies, risks, and priorities of each project.
  • Identify risks and leverage excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving abilities to effectively coordinate the implementation of cross-functional risk minimization or mitigation strategies.
  • Support executive portfolio meetings to highlight status and balance resources of existing projects, including the addition of new projects through the stage gate process. This includes the preparation of pre-read materials and points that need to be discussed/decided on in meetings, as well as capturing and sharing meeting notes, action items and decisions.
  • Run project meetings and maintain stakeholder dashboards to ensure ongoing alignment of efforts across projects, track the project budget, and identity gaps, deviations, needs, or bottlenecks.
  • Support the Director of Product Innovation Programs and Partnerships in the modeling of company capacity and resource management, by identifying resource availabilities and refining timeline and budget estimations based on historical data.
  • Contribute to the definition, development, and utility of Geltor’s project management processes, frameworks, and toolkits.

Requirements:

  • Experience in independently managing projects, with a comprehensive understanding of the various stages of product development and their unique needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different disciplines, engaging and influencing colleagues, while demonstrating comfort in navigating scientific conversations in a deeply technical environment and articulating this information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience in fermentation-based products or in the development of new ingredients. Experience with cosmetics, nutrition or adjacent fields is highly valued.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable in fast fast-paced changing environment. A systems thinker that is excited to define and build a critical role in an expanding biotech startup.
  • Rigor, attention to detail, data-driven, and results oriented with a focus on aligning project level strategy, timelines, and deliverables with the goals designed by leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and complete high-quality projects amidst tight timelines and competing deadlines; exceptional attention to detail.
  • PMP or Scrum certifications would be an asset in this role.
  • Flexible communication style that can connect with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including technical and executive team members.
  • Familiarity with waterfall, agile or hybrid project management approaches.

How You'll Be Compensated and Supported:

  • Starting salary of $85,000 to $100,000 per year, based on skills and experience
